Sisterhood Charge

My Sisters’ Charge
given to our young ladies going to college

Daughter of El Elyon, the Most High God:

We encourage you to remember that Adonai has called you by name. You are the object of His affection and He has set His love upon you. He has set you apart, sanctified you through the blood of Messiah Yeshua to be His special treasure, and has given you an everlasting promise that He will never leave you or forsake you.

As you progress through this next phase of your life, we know that you will face many experiences and people who may cause you to question what you know to be good and true. Therefore, we admonish you to take the time to seek out believers full of Godly wisdom to guide you in identifying the spiritual and natural costs involved in all of your options: So that you may choose rightly, making decisions that are sound and beneficial to your growth and to your commitment to God.

We admonish you to fiercely protect your spirit, soul and body from the enemy of your soul, - the devil, who through deception and compromise, seeks to corrupt and destroy the holiness and purity of your relationship with God, of your womanhood, and of your future marital covenant. Be of good courage, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” Eph. 6:10-11

When, in your humanity, you fail to meet your ideals, we encourage you to remember God’s grace. Then be quick to extend grace to yourself and others. Walk in the light of His forgiveness.” Rom. 8:1  Guard your mind and your emotions, allowing “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute” to occupy your thoughts. “If there is any excellence and if anything is worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Phil. 4:8  And remember, to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Rom. 12:2

In all your learning, we admonish you to never forsake the study of God’s Word. “Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” Josh. 1:8  Finally, we encourage you to remember the love of your parents and of your sisters here at Ben David. We are proud of you and your achievements. We pledge our support and offer our encouragement to you as you continue your growth into womanhood and walk in God’s plan and purpose for your life.

This is our charge and our encouragement to you.

This week's Parashah begins the fourth book of Moshe and has the same title as the book itself. The title of the book, in Hebrew, comes from the fourth word from its opening phrase, "Vaidaber YHVH el-Moshe bamidbar" (And Yehovah spoke to Moshe in the wilderness). Bamidbar, the wilderness, designates the place of the varied happenings in the book. The current English title, “Numbers,” is derived from the Septuagint - the Greek translation done before the Common Era - and was named as such based on the numerous censuses of the Israelites...
